Many link builders are aware that Google's guidelines and actions don't always align perfectly.

One area that falls into Google’s gray zone is guest posting on websites.

In Google’s earlier years, guest posting, also known as guest blogging, was considered a valid SEO tactic, and Google didn’t take any action against it. However, in 2024, Google issued a warning about the potential risks of guest posting if it was primarily used for link building. Matt Cutts famously suggested that guest posting for the sole purpose of gaining links should come to an end.

Despite this, guest posting and the popularity of guest posting sites have continued to grow.

However, many link builders focus on the wrong kinds of links, as can be seen in the guest posting sites listed in top-ranking articles.

We analyzed over 500 sites commonly featured on these “guest post sites” lists and conducted a thorough quality check, so you don’t have to.

Methodology

We compiled our list by referencing guest post lists from various sites and added our own selections using hrefs’ Content Explorer. We identified sites that clearly indicated they accepted guest posts, such as those with “contribute” or “write for us” in post titles and URLs.

Next, we manually reviewed the list, assessing five key criteria:

1. Domain Rating above 50
2. Monthly Organic Traffic above 10,000
3. Dofollow links (not limited to government sites)
4. Clear author attribution (no generic names like “admin” or “guest”)
5. High-quality websites with strong E-E-A-T signals and well-written content
